The Journey of my Mind to Visual
Creativity for me is wild and colorful. I love working in the abstract because it gives me a sense of freedom. Starting my journey in 2000 with a traditional quilt class, I moved to creating my own designs with commercial fabrics to my own hand-dyed and painted fabrics. Each piece is created with bold colors and passion. Inspiration for my art comes from something intriguing that I may have seen while traveling, a new idea to try, my emotions at the time of creation or just letting my inner child go wild.
Although my educational background does not include formal art training, I have taken many classes from well-known art quilters, dyers, and surface designers. I was also fortunate to have a mother that made many beautiful quilts by hand (pieced and quilted).
At this point and time in my life, I have the time, passion, and energy to dedicate to my journey from the mind to visualization. The journey continues as I create more and experiment with various other surface designs. I hope that my journey will allow me to motivate others to find their creativity regardless of their age or previous background. As a child we had that creative ability and now we must explore to find it again.
